In today’s global-internet saturated culture, it’s difficult to stand out from the rest. Deon Butler is a success story in his “iEMPIRE,” taking a radio show from the nineties and bringing it to the 21st century. Kaeno / Kaenow (Deon Butler) began his musical journey at the age of 13, and began melding vinyl beats not long after. After graduating from high school, he attended Florida International University, where he first started his career as a radio DJ. His first show aired in 1999 called The Vanishing Point, encompassing the EDM genres popular at the time: Progressive, Trance, House and Tribal.
The radio show soared to new heights making it one of the most listened to college radio stations in Miami, eventually winning the Miami New Times best Radio Station in 2007. At the time, the electronic music scene in Miami was growing exponentially, rivaling the typical Pop/Hip-Hop that ruled Saturday Night parties on Miami Beach. Kaeno & Alexander were at the top of Miami’s playlist, and were performing under the moniker “System Shock.” After finishing his residency at Zanzibar, Kaeno graced the decks at some of South Florida’s most legendary clubs and festival. The Vanishing Point went online with iTUNES three years ago, creating an enhanced Podcast for download. Recently, TVP reached 50,000 downloads, making Kaeno’s show one of the most listened to and downloaded EDM shows in the U.S.A and across the world. Over the past ten years, Kaeno has released countless tracks and mixes. You can experience Kaeno’s profound genius through his website.

Over the last 5 years, The Vanishing Point (TVP) podcast has been at its peak, featuring exclusive mixes / productions from industry elite and music’s rising stars. The Vanishing Point first aired in 1999 in Miami as a local college radio show at Florida International University. With the power of the internet, TVP went global on 12-14-2005 airing its first internet broadcast on Party107.com. TVP wasn’t your typical trance & techno radio show, the format of the show was to bring the music you heard in the clubs into your cars and homes. TVP was described as “a non-commercial dance show which featured the most raw & up-front music” (source). With the help of Sirius Satellite Radio, TVP went back to the FM airways as a non-commercial dance show. Soon after, the relationship with iTunes was established which helped expand TVP’s global outreach. The Vanishing Point is now part of one of the largest outlets of music, iTunes U. iTunes U lets college students download and subscribe to music for free or for a very low fee. With dance music in the USA becoming a mainstream format, TVP now has even more room to grow and expand. Thank you for making TVP one million subscribers strong! |
