Tenishia’s story started in summer 2004 when Joven Grech and Cyprian Cassar joined forces for music production after a long talk about music in a small bar. Joven was already into djing for a few years while Cyprian had a perfect ear for good melodies due to his classical music background of playing the piano and other musical instruments from a very young age. They entered the Maltese club scene officially on the 12th of March 2005, as Tenishia, with a Live PA which reached maximum limit of bookings around the Maltese islands within few weeks for the best local events including MTV Malta. TV, radio stations, internet, magazines and newspapers featured their interviews and information which quickly gained popularity for Malta’s new artists. Loved by the crowd, the duo won the ‘2005 Best Newcomer Award’ just eight months after their debut and another award some months later as ‘ Malta’s Best Live Performance 2005?. Today they have enough local fans to put up their own ‘Tenishia Live’ event that’s sell out the biggest clubs on the island of Malta.
Tenishia played alongside various big names during their DJ adventures in Malta, meeting lots of experienced people in the industry, one of which was Kirsty Hawkshaw who showed big interest in the duo. Working close with Kirsty, Tenishia produced their first big hits such as ‘Outsiders’ which was chosen as ‘One for the Weekend’ by UK’s most in Demand DJ Dave Pearce on BBC Radio and ‘Reasons to Forgive’ and ‘Invisible’ all released on Armada’s top label, Armind. Big hit after big hit, Tenishia grew from national to international stars, their music was being supported by top names like Armin van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Pete Tong and Markus Schulz and included in best selling compilations like ‘Ministry of Sound’, ‘Gatecrasher’, ‘Global Gathering’ and ‘Cream Ibiza’. Soon after, requests for Tenishia from around the globe started coming in, and the duo has already travelled far as Australia and New Zealand, headlining events and even supporting big names like Ferry Corsten!
2010 is looking quite solid for Tenishia, following their remixes for the likes of Andy Moor and Matt Darey, Tenishia has a lot more coming up in the pipeline! Their rework for the big Jan Johnston classic ‘Flesh’ is being hammered by Markus Schulz, Andy Moor just loves their ‘See the Sun’ bootleg, Armin van Buuren has included their single ‘Stranger to Myself’ in his award winning compilation and if that is not enough, more big releases and remixes are also on the way!
