HeatBeat Interview

I must confess that I didn’t know much about Heatbeat until I saw them face to face (or should I say ‘ear to ear’) playing their live set at ASOT in Buenos Aires, Argentina; starting with an amazing mush-up like: Luigi Lusini vs. Arty “We Are Zara”, two tracks that definitely catch the essence… the perfect feeling which trance transmits, the tranquility of flying with your senses… plus the smashing impulse of the beats of music… These guys know very well what is it all about and how to deal with it! In fact, while I was requesting information for this interview, I got really surprised by the huge amount of people who were praising these amazing djs from the other side of the Andes Mountains. Besides, not only people from Argentina get them to a higher position in trance music, but also important and well- known djs, who you can see surround them, in the most massive events around the world. This doesn’t disturb me at all… On the contrary, I’m pleased to read it. Since the news, the future projects and the success of HEATBEAT will undoubtedly be seen by a lot of people. People who trust their ingenuity to produce the tracks, especially because of their talent (which I hope to be a witness of their live sets in the near future when they’re playing round here)Well, let’s give them a warm welcome to #TranceWorld! So, here you are Matías Faint and Agustín Servente, from HEATBEAT:

1.- Well, guys. What do you think of starting with a short presentation of yourselves? Just two lines… Something like models when they introduce themselves in a beauty pageant! Lol

What’s up? We’re Agustín and Matias from Heatbeat. We’re two Argentinean young men, djs and producers of trance music and its derivatives.

2.- What about your beginnings? I’ve read at random that you began as a duo in 2006. How was that time for you? What were you living? How did you look to your future, your projection?

We’ve met in an Argentinean forum. We both produced and uploaded our productions on the web. We contacted each other, we gathered and, when we realized about it, we were already producing our first track. Djing came later. There wasn’t any projection in our minds. Our ideology is to keep on working, things come along.

3.- I’d like you to define in just one word everything you’ve done since you started Djing up to now. Obviously, counterbalancing good things and not so good ones.

PARTY!!!

4.- So, let’s see. I’d like to know … who is the heartbreaker?

Matías, definitively… Agustín is not a single, so Mati wins doubly haha

5.- There’re a lot of djs in Trance Planet who are the same age as you (I’m 23 years old, so I’m one of them hahaha) like Mat zo, Arty or Breakfast. Is it related to the time when we have born that there’re more fans of trance music, especially at this age? Like more influenced by our fathers or brothers, etc.

It’s true. There’s a lot of new talent nowadays. Even at the age of 22 or 22 we feel kind of old, since we can see 16/17-year-old producers dealing with an amazing sound. In our case, we’ve discovered electronic music through our family and friends.

6.- With respect to the last question… we could say that you’re the promises for the future of trance, not only in Argentina but throughout the world. Do you guys feel any kind of weight on yourselves under this premise?

It’s been 5 years since we’re working on it. We don’t like to be categorized by any nickname. We don’t think we are a reference to anything. Simply, we’d like people to be pleasant to our tracks, since we do it with a lot of effort and dedication. Fortunately, we’d never had any pressure; because if we do what we like and we can live with it, we don’t consider it to be a ‘pressure’.

7.- Argentinean people consider you a ‘National Pride’ on the internet. There’re also a lot of love and affection phrases. So, would you like to say any words to your fans?

Fans’ words are always very nice and considerate. Without their support, we would be nothing. So, we’re extremely grateful to them. We always tell them that the most important thing is to have a good time with their friends during our gigs. That’s the key, listening the type of music we like and sharing it with friends.

8.- Hernán Cattaneo is another devoted Dj who belongs to your native land… Have you ever worked together? It would be nice to see you playing live together.

We have been sending mails with Hernán lately. Here, people consider him as dj who makes reference to electronic music. He seems to be a good person. We like his music very much and respect him a lot as an artist. Although it may seem weird, we have never seen each other at any festival!

Stepping into greatness:

Your tracks are being played in several shows around the globe, on many artist’s sets such us: Armin van buuren, Judge Jules, Markus Schulz, 4 Strings, Cosmic Gate, Super8 & Tab, etc. and your name is already getting a place of privilege and respect in the Trance Planet. But the road is long, although people say ‘no pain, no gain’; these guys know how to deal with it and how to seek greatness easily every day:

9.- I’ve read that you were working on creating a new music label (if you’ve already created it, we’re sorry due to the lack of information about it). My point is I’d like to know how you are doing with that. Obviously, this is a good tool for the pre-arranged task you have as artists.

We’re still working on it. But we have other priorities at the moment. Our label is 100% Armada music and we feel very comfortable with it. However, we help our friends of Istmo Music (it’s a label from El Salvador which we’ve signed some tracks) and some artists such as Randy Boyer, Tom Colontonio o Chris Schweizer) have signed as well.

10.- From a label always comes a Radio Show, am I right?

Exactly. Our radio show is Buenos Aires Beats. At present, we’re making podcast. We believed it’s more useful. So, find us!

11.- Which websites would you probably highlight according to your hits?

www.nightclubber.com.ar , www.beatport.com. Nightclubber is a huge forum of electronic music in Argentina and Latin America. And Beatport is the site where you can see and buy our tracks and charts :D

12.- How is it to be a trance artist in Argentina? What’s your job?

At first, it was very difficult. Most of the Djs were more aware of what other djs did, if they were doing good or bad, instead of being aware of themselves. We decided to focus on our project and improve ourselves day by day. Fortunately, as time went by, we have found producers, djs and event organizers who are like-minded. Now, we’re Exit, Kent and Gian, Chris Schweizer’s friends (including other djs too). That means a lot, as we help each other in different ways, we do collaboration and remixes or we help each other with contacts. We believe that this is a great way to success and it’s nice to be in a healthy environment.

13.- I’d like you to tell us about any surprise. Something short but nice. What’s coming up this year?

We’re gonna release an exclusive one… After ‘Ask the cat/Ask the angels’ our next release will be named ‘Chimpokomon’, and today we’ve just finished its B-Side. It’ll be available on Armada Music in October. It’s a very good and techy track. Moreover, we’ll be playing again in Europe (more precisely at Judgement Sundays, in Ibiza). We also have tours in USA and Canada.

14.- People are talking very much about Armada night over here and they are very excited about it. I must tell you that in Chile there aren’t as many trance fans as in your country, but thanks to this event the excitement and number of people will increase. How do you guys see this? Considering that is increasing the number of fans in our neighboring countries (Argentina, Perú, Brasil, Chile, etc).

It’s excellent. Eventually, the spread of the style bring more followers in. I’m very glad that Armada Nights will be landing in Chile. These parties represent a lot of quality and they’re well-known around the world. We must be very happy of having them in South America. 15.- Regarding to the above question. When are you playing here in Chile?

15.- Regarding to the above question. When are you playing here in Chile?

We’ve had several proposals, but they couldn’t have been able to achieve. We hope to be in Armada Night soon. I know there’s a big possibility at the end of 2011! So, stay tuned!

16.- Argentina’s got Heatbeat, we’ve got Sould and Senses. Would you like to say anything to them?

Are they Chileans? Wow! We didn’t know about that! Congratulations, then. It’s not easy to get to a label as FSOE. We hope to be in contact soon. Great job!

17.- Well buddies. Please, suggest us some nice places (nightclubs) in Buenos Aires to go out and enjoy Trance music…

Crobar, Pacha, Privilege , Bahrein . There isnt a club 100% Trance. Mainly, we deal with parties here. Then you have Armada Night, PLUR Party, Paradise Garage… There you have, for sure, the best parties of all.

18.- Do you want to send your regards to the general public or to anyone in particular?

We want to say Hi to all trance fans in Chile. They have to be proud of this growing period in Trance and we hope to have the pleasure of visiting you soon. If you have any questions, please follow us on facebook or emails us to: heatbeatmusic@gmail.com . Greetings!

Well guys, I hope you liked this interview. Once again, thanks for your attention and I wish you very good luck with your projects. I hope to see you growing as persons and as artists for several years. Continue making people happy with your trance energy and euphoria. A big hug guys, and I hope to see you playing in the near future.
